Back to blog TfL has announced that a Tube strike is likely to go ahead this Sunday. The RMT and TSSA unions are planning a 24 hour strike starting at 18:00 on 8 January. If this goes ahead some Tube services will see major disruptions and others will be closed completely. As it’s the station staff who are striking this means lots of Tube stations will be closed.

When will the strike happen?

– If they go ahead the Tube strike will start at 18:00 on Sunday 8 January and services will resume by Tuesday morning on 10 January.

Which stations will be affected by the Tube strike?

– Most Zone 1 stations will be closed and many other stations in the other zones will be closed as well. – Open stations will open late and close early. – National Rail services are not affected however there will be no Underground services at interchange stations like King’s Cross, Paddington and London Bridge. bus-london-ad-02 app-store-ios app-store-android

Which Tube lines will be affected during the strike?

– A limited service will run on the District, Circle and Hammersmith & City lines but the trains won’t stop for every station. – There will be no service on the Victoria and Waterloo & City lines. – There will be no service on the North Acton to West Ruislip branch of the Central line. – There will be no service on the Piccadilly line serving Heathrow terminals 4 & 5. – The DLR will be busier than usual and services may terminate at Tower Gateway if Bank station doesn’t remain open.

UPDATE

The following lines will also be affected: – No service on most of the Bakerloo line. – Limited service on Central line. – No service on most of the Jubilee line. – Limited service on Metropolitan line. – Limited service on Northern line.

What will be the best way to get around?

– Walking might be the best option for some and at the very least will help you make those missing connections. – Buses will be busier than normal but TfL will provide extra buses to reduce crowding as much as possible.
