Easter Bank Holiday London Transport Information

Easter is almost here and we’ve got everything you need to know to get around London. The Easter weekend can be a time to relax, travel or catch up with friends and family. So don’t let works on the railways or closures on the London Underground get in the way. With a little bit of help from us, you’ll know what to expect so you can get around London without the hassle and Plan. Route. Relax. this Easter.

Trains

National Rail have announced that they will be performing maintenance during the Easter Weekend. This applies to the rest of Great Britain as well, so wherever you are, it’s worth checking the National Rail page and planning ahead. Direct trains going between Gatwick Airport and London will go from London Bridge instead of Victoria between Friday 25th and Monday 28th. On Sunday 27th, South West Train services won’t run between Clapham Junction and Barnes. There is also no service between Victoria and Clapham Junction.

London Underground

Mile End Station will be closed between Friday 25th and Monday 28th.

District line

There will be no service between Aldgate and Dagenham East, Friday 25th to Monday 28th. Replacement buses will be running.

Hammersmith & City line

There will be no service between Liverpool Street and Barking, Friday 25th to Monday 28th. Replacement buses will be running. District and Hammersmith

Metropolitan line

There will be no service between Moor Park, Amersham and Chesham, Friday 25th to Monday 28th. Replacement buses will be running but they won’t call at Moor Park. Northwood, Rickmansworth and Chorleywood stations will be the nearest alternatives. metropolitan-line

London Overground

There will be no service between the following stations: Highbury & Islington and Shadwell, Friday 25th to Friday 1st of April. Surrey Quays and New Cross, Monday 28th to Friday 1st of April. Camden Road and Stratford, Friday 25th to Monday 28th. Sydenham and Crystal Palace, Friday 25th to Sunday 27th. Local bus routes 122 and 202 can be used instead. Gospel Oak and Barking before 12:00 on Sunday 27th. Romford and Upminster, Sunday 27th to Monday 28th. Local bus route 370 can be used instead. Highbury & Islington and Clapham Junction and New Cross Gate on Monday 28th. Replacement buses will be running for stations not served by the local bus routes. london-overground-easter-get-around-london

TfL Rail

There will be no service between Gidea Park and Shenfield, Friday 25th to Saturday 26th. The entire line will be closed Sunday 27th to Monday 28th. That’s every stop between Shenfield and Liverpool street. Replacement buses will be running. tfl-rail-easter

Trams

There will be no service between Reeves Corner and East Croydon and line 4 will not run, Friday 25th to Saturday 2nd of April. Local bus route 410 can be used between East Croydon and Reeves Corner via West Croydon.

Buses

There are no planned changes to buses however the planned Boat Race and Easter holiday-makers could mean some services are busier than usual.

The Boat Race

The 160th Boat Race will take place on the River Thames between Putney Bridge and Chiswick Bridge. Buses and London Underground services are expected to be busier close to the event.

Get Around London with Bus Times London

When viewing a bus stop in Bus Times London, if there is an issue affecting the route, there will be a small notice at the top of the app with information from Transport for London. Bus Times London on Android now includes an improved route planner that will let you plan a journey to anywhere in London. You can also plan nearly a month in advance, which means you can start planning your Easter day out right now!

Get Around London with myTrains

With so many works over Easter, it’s worth planning a journey in myTrains before you leave home to double check things are running as you expect. If you’re using the Commuter View on iOS you can also check the Twitter window for the latest updates from National Rail.
