Back to blog piccadilly-strike-line **Update – Tube strike confirmed and no service on the Piccadilly Line will run on Thursday 24th March 2016. One of the busiest lines on the London Underground – the Piccadilly Line – will not be running from 9pm this evening, if a planned Tube strike goes ahead. The Piccadilly Line may not run from 9pm this evening (Wednesday 23rd March 2016) and again all day on Thursday 24th March 2016 because of a driver walk out by the RMT union. The 24-hour strike will affect every station on the Piccadilly Line as well as causing a knock on delay to many other services on the Underground. If the strike goes ahead, hundreds of drivers will walk out in protest over claims of “a comprehensive breakdown” in relations and “serious underlying issues” with the age of many of the trains. London Underground Operations Director Pat Hansberry told The Metro: “Our customers are advised to check our real-time travel tools, should the planned strike go ahead on the Piccadilly Line from late tonight.” Tube Map’s route planner and our real-time line status information will help anyone trying to navigate an alternative route on the Underground. The official advice by Transport for London is for passengers to travel earlier this evening where possible with an aim to have journeys completed by 10:30pm. For those who are going to be travelling between Heathrow Airport and central London during the Tube strike, the Heathrow Connect and Heathrow Express will be available to and from London Paddington station.

How long will the Tube strike last for?

The 24-hour Tube strike is scheduled to start from Wednesday 23rd March at 9pm and will last for all of Thursday 24th March. More Tube strikes are scheduled to go ahead after Easter but nothing official has yet to be confirmed.
